Bethesda has announced beta details regarding their newest game in the Fallout series, Fallout 76. They’ve announced how one might get involved in the Beta, and when the beta is scheduled to take place. They’ve also confirmed that Xbox One owners will get to experience the beta first. The beta rolls out on the Microsoft console, first of all, coming to PS4 and PC not too much later.
We’re blown away by the response to the B.E.T.A. Still sorting out the details but we’ll start letting you break-it in October. First on XB1, then PS4 and PC. #PleaseStandBy https://t.co/3XIR7grard pic.twitter.com/YQISJvis0P

Bethesda has attracted controversy with Fallout 76, due to its multiplayer format and lack of NPCs. Todd Howard, the executive producer at Bethesda Game Studios, has said in the past that the game can be played completely solo, but the player base has doubts.
Only time and experience the game will tell for sure if they’ve taken this criticism of feeling “not like Fallout” on-board. Those who’ve pre-ordered will get the experience earlier than the rest of us. Pre-order bonuses have always been contentious, but this one might swing it for some. It might put off others even further, seeing it as money grabbing to hold the beta hostage. Again, only time will tell if this is Bethesda cashing in on online survival’s rise to prominence, or a genuine attempt at innovation. I, for one, am cautiously optimistic.
Along with your pre-order, you’ll receive a code allowing access to the beta (or in Fallout parlance B.E.T.A) upon redemption at Bethesda.net. After redeeming this code, simply wait to receive an email “with further instructions”, set to by October.
There is more information to be found here, and Bethesda is recommending checking back regularly for any information being released. If you’re excited and want to see new features or doubtful and want to see more to decide, it’s definitely worth checking in.
