Mortal Kombat fans on the Switch looking forward to buying a physical copy of Mortal Kombat 11 will be disappointed to hear that the game won’t be getting a physical release till May 10.
Warner Bros. broke the news to the site Gamespur. They confirmed however that the game will be available digitally on April 23 through the Nintendo eShop. This is the same day Mortal Kombat 11 is due to be released on other systems. Gamespur reached out to Warner Bros. to ask why the physical release was pushed back but they haven’t received word back as of writing.
The Switch port of Mortal Kombat 11 is being handled by the studio Shiver Entertainment who are being overseen by NetherRealm Studios. While a graphical downgrade compared to the other versions, Shiver Entertainments goal for the port is to make it run at 60 fps, graphics be (slightly) damned. An example of the graphical downgraded was reported by Gamespot who noted that the X-rays of the Fatal Blows “looking more like a bloody mess than the stomach-churning viscera of the other versions.”. On the plus side however gameplay-wise they reported that it “made the transition beautifully.”
