Lately, there have been rumours going around that the next-gen consoles will be delayed due to the Coronavirus, however, Microsoft has stated that the Xbox Series X is on track to launch this Holiday. Although while they can confirm that the Xbox Series X is on track to launch, they have said that games might be delayed due to the Coronavirus.
This news comes from an interview with CNBC, where the head of Xbox Phil Spencer said that the Xbox Series X is “in line with” the timeline plan Microsoft has in place. However, due to game developers working from home, we could see delays in next-gen games. As Phil Spencer says that is “the bigger unknown” right now.
“Overall, I think we’re in line with where we thought we would be,” said Spencer. “I’d say the bigger unknown is probably the game production. Game production is a large scale entertainment activity now, you have hundreds of people coming together, building assets, working through creative.”
Spencer also mentioned that if game developers do need to delay games due to the Coronavirus, Microsoft will do the rightful thing and not “push when things just aren’t ready.”
