Xbox Live: Change Your Gamertag Free Once!

Recently implemented onto Xbox Live is the ability to change your Gamertag for free once. Keeping this change in mind, you will not be able to use overly hateful or suggestive language in your Gamertag. This change is apart of the new update that looks to change Gamertag’s into something similar to Discord where hidden numbers will come after the name chosen.

Currently, if the name is being used by someone else, then the numbers will appear after your Gamertag, but after a point in early 2020, these numbers will disappear. However, these numbers won’t be viewed on the Xbox PC app or the Game Bar. The new naming convention will be implemented to the next generation Xbox upon release.

With these changes, there is no telling what will be implemented and changed as the new Xbox arrives and if Microsoft will look to keep the Xbox One fully supported. For fans worried about the One being dropped, the Xbox 360 is still receiving updates years after stopping production.
