In celebration of the beloved MMORPG’s fifteenth birthday, Blizzard Entertainment has introduced a few little classic treats for the new player base to enjoy in the latest edition of World of Warcraft.

Throwing in a bundle of raids from previous instalments such as The Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, and Cataclysm, Blizzard has forged the title ‘Memories of Azeroth’ in order to celebrate the long lifespan of the cherished franchise.

For the duration of the party (lasting until the 8th January 2020), players will be able to log on to their accounts and use the raid finder tool to travel back through to the legendary encounters that once dominated the servers. And, to top it all off, they’ll even get an Obsidian Worldbreaker after completing all three raids from the spool of nostalgic maps. That, in itself, is a pretty sweet gift from the Blizzard team.

The anniversary event will also allow players to relive older memories by letting them travel to the Alterac Valley battleground, where they’ll be able to snatch up the ‘Alterac Valley of Olde’ achievement and bag themselves two new mounts: the Stormpike Battle Ram (Alliance) and the Frostwolf Snarler (Horde).

As for the icing on the birthday cake, Blizzard is handing out Lil’ Nefarian battle pets for all players who log in to the Battle of Azeroth. That, as well as a few other fillers for the goodie bag you’ll be able to take home with you.

If you’re up for joining the celebration, head on over to the World of Warcraft official blog, this is where you’ll find the latest activities and information on the event.

Here’s to another glorious fifteen years! So, will you be strapping on your party hat and hitting Azeroth this weekend? Let us know in the comments below.

Hey, I'm Jord! Gaming and creative writing have always gone hand in hand for me. I've grown up with gaming and have always been a bit of a storyteller. I live for the art and thrive in drafting punchy, humorous, but mostly informative articles for gamers and readers alike. In person, I'm just your regular 25-year-old dude from Worcester, UK. But, for DGR, I hope to be a source for groundbreaking gaming news and a reason you'll want to come back for more.

Have your say!
