Valorant Now Has Skins That Cost Over $100, Whats Next
Valorant has only been out of beta for a month and a half and it’s already achieved a massive player base. Valorant combines the defusal-type gameplay of Counter-Strike with an assortment of characters with their own unique abilities. Since the game is free, Riot Games make their money from Valorant by adding in costly gun skin collections. However, how far can Riot go with these skins before they become too expensive?
Valorant had pricey skins since the launch of the game, with the Prime Collection being over $70. Keep in mind that even though the skins were cool and could be upgraded with sound and kill effects, it’s still just a set of in-game items. While other collections weren’t as expensive, they weren’t necessarily cheap either. The skins are pretty expensive, but they are one of the only ways Riot can profit off this game so it makes sense they would try to add a large price tag to some cooler skins.
When Riot released their first trailer for the new ‘Enderflame’ skin collection, everybody knew that it was going to the most expensive skin collection yet. The guns weren’t even guns anymore, they were just dragons who shoot bullets. Similar to the Prime collection, you can upgrade your Enderflame guns with different colors, kill effects, and roars. Even though the guns are pretty cool, the price point is scarier than the game’s sniper mains: $100.
While you can buy each skin separately, the collection’s set price makes Enderflame the most expensive collection they’ve ever made. The only way most people can even try them out is by killing their opponents who have one and taking their gun. While Valorant’s $100 skin collection is steep, it raises questions on how expensive will future collections be.
Valorant’s Enderflame collection will most likely sell super well since some people have lots of money on their hands. That being said, we hope that Riot Games continues to make new and cheaper skin collections that more people are able to enjoy.
