Uncharted Movie Delayed Until March 2021

Sony Pictures has once again pushed back the release date for the twelve-year running Uncharted movie. So, you can forget it if you think you’re catching it this December, Naughty Dog fans. Instead, you’ll be able to see the rather unbalanced movie on the 5th March 2021. Or, you know – never. It all depends on how Sony handle the seventh change in directors seeing as Travis Knight was recently dropped from the bill due to scheduling difficulties. Plus, it all comes down to whether or not there is even a script yet. For all we know the movie might still be in the pipedream phase.

Uncharted, to most gamers, has always had a rather explosive feel to it. The franchise itself is one that can really only be pulled off in a video game. Because of this, there’s no denying Sony will be under pressure to build the movie adaption up to everything gamers want it to be. But, twelve years is a long time. And, we’d be lying if we said we still had confidence in the project pulling through and surpassing our expectations. That’s the sad truth that seems to be floating around as Sony scuff feet and enter blind panics over which direction they’re even heading.

The Uncharted movie is set to feature Tom Holland as a younger Nathan Drake, as well as Mark Wahlberg, who will portray Victor “Sully” Sullivan. Similar to several Uncharted 3 flashback segments, the movie will be set around the blossoming of Drake and Sully’s friendship. But that’s all we’ve been told so far as the project is still in pre-production. This can, of course, switch lanes at any moment and derail horrifically. But with Holland and Wahlberg manning the rota, we’re hoping the long wait will eventually pay off.
