Poland will use This War of Mine to teach students
The 2014 survival game This War of Mine will now be inducted into the Polish education system, which was confirmed by the country’s prime minister, Mateusz Morawiecki. The Polish developed title from 11 Bit Studios will be recommended reading for high school students.
“Of course, games are already being used in education for teaching maths, chemistry, and developing cognitive abilities, but I don’t think we’ve ever encountered a game being officially included in the educational system on a national level as school reading,” said 11 bit Studios CEO Grzegorz Miechowski in a statement.
Due to the age rating in Poland, it will only be available for students who are 18 or older. It will be included in the reading list for the 2020/21 academic year. Students studying sociology, ethics, philosophy, and history will get the game for free.
This War of Mine was well received, with an average of 82 across all platforms on Metacritic. The game was praised for its look into how war affects people.
