Can you remember Konami? They developed some genuinely amazing games back in the day, such as the Silent Hill series, and Metal Gear Solid. Well, they’ve been out the gaming industry for a while and basically been making pachinko machines, well guess what!? Yep, a Silent Hill gambling machine.
If you want to take a positive outlook on this news, you can as Konami seems to remember that Silent Hill exists but that’s it. They’ve completely forgotten it was once one of the greatest horror gaming franchises,
The gambling machine below uses assets from Silent Hill: Downpour that released in 2012.
‘This cabinet is a striking combination of sleek entertainment, premium packaging, and player comfort, backed by a rich library of original titles,’ says Konami’s Tom Jingoli.
‘Everything, including its shape, screens, betting surface, and available merchandising, has been engineered to maximise both player experience and operational results. This latest cabinet is the first glimpse at great things to come from Konami.’
That last line hurts my very soul, as that could have been P.T. one of the greatest horror games released and it was only a demo, they had something special, but then they forced Hideo Kojima out.
Who knows if we’ll ever see another ‘proper’ Silent Hill game ever again, but at least we have Kojima’s Death Stranding to look forward to coming November.
