The Wonderful 101: Remastered is releasing to PC, PS4 and Switch on 19th May in North America and 22nd May for Europe. Platinum Games have coined this as a ‘general’ release date. Those who backed the Kickstarter campaign are, as far as we’re aware, still expected to get their copy in April.
The very successful Kickstarter campaign originally asked for roughly £38,000, and so far it’s received just under £1.4 million with only 8 days remaining. Showing that there’s definitely a market for this game despite it being a commercial failure on the Wii U in 2013.
Perhaps this is a chance for The Wonderful 101 to properly find its place in gaming history. Hideki Kamiya, the original director, certainly thinks this to be the case after thanking fans for their support. In this message, he stated, “I’m considering this a chance to show it to the world again. I’m looking forward to seeing how it measures up.”
Kamiya added that this remaster “isn’t just a simple port” with several adjustments being made. Including fine-tuning the controls to make it easier to play, as well as improvements to the image quality so that it looks better on these newer consoles.
