Red Barrels have announced The Outlast Trials will be a co-op horror game set in the Cold War. Red Barrels shared a promotional image on October 31 of two hands held together. The new artwork depicts three people wearing goggles, captioned, ‘Where Freedom Ends.’
The Outlast Trials will “allow players to face the horrors of the trials by themselves or cooperate with up to 3 other test subjects.”
There is a hint toward the Murkoff Corporation in the image, as an inscription on a bracelet reads “MK 329300”. The Outlast Trials is still in development with no release dates or confirmed platforms for release.
Co-founder of Red Barrels, David Chateauneuf, said, “Now we’ve done our proof of concept, it is time to focus on content creation, variety… and gore.”
In a positive review from IGN on the original Outlast, they said, “Annoying design choices and forced moments of repetition have a bad habit of spoiling the mood, but between them is an experience that’s scary as all hell.”
