Ah, it’s the moment we have all feared. Recent rumors suggested that The Last of Us Part 2 will delay from its slated February 2020 release date and will be pushed to the Spring. But we have recieved an update from game director Neil Druckmann that the rumor is true and that the new release date is 29 May 2020.
Druckmann says that he is upset that he showed a bit of the game with much confidence, but realizes he spoke too soon. The game is nowhere near polished enough, and the studio needs that extra time to top the original game. The size of the game was underestimated, and the team realized they have been a bit too overconfident.
The Last of Us Part II has a new release date. Here’s a letter to our fans.
Apologies for the delay. Please know we’re working very hard to make it worthwhile. https://t.co/iJyhXpuUoa

How do you all feel about it? In my opinion, I am both understanding and disappointed. Naughty Dog announced this sequel way back in 2016, and many of us have been waiting since early speculation in 2013 to get our hands on this game. Although I am slightly disappointed, I completely respect Naughty Dog’s decision. After all, Santa Monica Studios delayed God of War possibly for the same reasons, and that game is a contemporary masterpiece.
I’m eager to see what is going to happen. Of course, we’re all going to wait patiently because we’re just that loyal to our developers at Naughty Dog, and we will do what they say! How do you guys feel about this possible delay for the most ambitious game Naughty Dog has ever made? Let us know down below!
