It took console players 36 hours to down the raid for the first time. Meanwhile, on PC this raid is being run through in about 20 minutes.
This feat was posted about on Reddit by Inkist on Saturday, May 18th. Inkist accomplished this with his team consisting of members Bloodshy, Tico79, Jaqev, Handsome Lancer, AZPrimeminister; I’m Bats, and H2K Predator on PS4. Inkist talked about at length how the team would take brief naps before making more attempts at the final boss of the raid Razorback. He noted that this phase of the raid took close to 20 hours to complete. A big reason for that, though, is the horrific frame rate that occurs during the final segment. When Razorback uses his drone attack the frames can drop to as low as 15 FPS. Ubisoft has made no commitment to make changes to the raid on console but it is clear some sort of optimization is needed.
As for advice, Inkist mentioned was to focus your entire build on damage. Anything else just won’t be able to have its effect before the player goes down, rendering them moot. Regardless it’s clear that there is quite a difference in raid experience depending on the platform you play on. Hopefully, this gets addressed soon so the Darkest Hours raid can be enjoyed by all. On that note, though Ubisoft has mentioned that the raid will indeed be getting matchmaking. Associate Creative Director Chadi El-Zibaoui had said that the team feared that a matchmaking system could cause more harm than good.
Much of the player base questioned why the standard matchmaking could not be used for the raids. El-Zibaoui mentioned that the raid was simply too complex for randoms to complete on their own. A more in-depth matchmaking system will be created though, possibly one like Destiny 2’s. The team is listening to the community though, and a path forward will be established soon.
