Street Fighter II’s reign has sadly come to an end and has been surpassed by none other than the much loved Super Smash Bros Ultimate. With Street Fighter basically paving the way for the genre throughout the years, the torch has been passed on when Nintendo released its latest financial information concerning the sales of their most popular games.
Coming in at 15.71 million Super Smash Bros Ultimate was able to succeed Street Fighter II’s 15.5 million, and make the climb to the top place. Given we haven’t entirely made it through the holiday season yet, so it’s safe to assume that the number will only grow larger.
Nintendo still has Mario Maker 2, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, and Luigi’s Mansion 3 to sell this holiday season, so there is still much to be played if you have yet get your hands on a copy. And of course, not forgetting Pokemon Sword/Shield that launches on the 15 November.
