Tencent Games will be adding new features soon
Recently, Wall Street Journal reported that Tencent Games will be adding new features soon. In fact, online modes will include an ID verification system. Not to mention, this will affect players under 12 years old greatly. In fact, a 12-year-old player in China will only be allowed to play for an hour.
Additionally, Tencent hopes to have this system implemented into at least ten games by the end of the year. Therefore, by 2019 all of their games should have the features.
Of course, it’s no secret that China is working hard to keep gaming under their control in their country. For example, they’ve been banning games and downright banning most social media outlets there.
Nevertheless, while Tencent Games doesn’t agree with China’s beliefs they’ll try to meet them in the middle. In fact, according to senior research analyst Chenyu Cui at IHS Markit Tencent is trying to pioneer these systems to make everyone happy.
Therefore, the first game to use this feature was Honor of Kings back in September. Especially, Chinese students were skipping their studies to play the game at night. In addition, the game will be off limits from 9 pm to 8 am for 12-year-olds. Also, players who’re 13 to 18 can play up to two hours as well.
Honestly, in situations like these you can’t blame people for trying to help their children chip away at their life and future. Comment below on what you think of Tencent’s new features.
