BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Europe – TEKKEN World Tour Full Details Announced


The third tournament season will come to new locations, have new  tournament categories and will boast a £141,000 ($185,000) prize pool!

Recently, it was announced that Twitch will once again be the exclusive streaming host for the for this years ‘TEKKEN World Tour’.

The Tournament kicks off on April 20th, at ‘The MIXUP’ in Lyon, France then continues on to multiple destinations around the world. Interestingly, this year will feature additional stop off points such as the United Kingdom, Germany, Poland, Sweden and Australia, amongst others. Also, for the first time, official tournaments will be coming to Dubai, Greece and South Africa! 

Herve Hoerdt, of BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Europe made a comment in regards to the new locations that the world tour will be visiting. He stated, “At BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Europe, we’re committed to investing in, and creating, exciting esports experiences across the world for our wide range of games. As part of this, we’re especially pleased to be able to bring the TEKKEN World Tour to new locations across Europe, the Middle-East and Africa, including Dubai, Greece and South Africa, ensuring as many new players as possible can experience the excitement of a live-event!”

Along with the new categories (shown above). This years Tekken World Tour will take the 19 highest ranked players from around the world and pit them against each other in the finals. This will be hosted in Bangkok, Thailand. Personally, I love the fact that this years tournament will be coming to so many places around the world, it is great to see the esports world expanding more and more with more significant amounts of prize money being offered every year.

Richard Thiher, the Product Manager at Twitch is looking forward to the event. He said, “Fighting games represent the roots of esports, the early days of fans gathering in arcades and living rooms and making competitive gaming a shared community viewing experience. As the premier destination for esports, we are proud to carry on that tradition by bringing fans together from all around the world to watch, chat, and experience the best plays TEKKEN 7 has to offer.”
