Nintendo has announced what there latest Super Mario Maker 2 update will contain, and it’s bringing the Play With Friends mode, which allows you to play versus or co-op online modes.

Update 1.1.0 adds a far number of new features, including voice chat via the Switch Online mobile app (anyone else forgot this existed?) and the ability to select which courses you upload to Course World as well as courses saved to Coursebot.

Nintendo has always been odd when it comes to online functionality, like in the past where you can only play with people you’ve added to your friends list if you’re in close physical proximity with them, which when they live abroad is nigh impossible. Fortunately, Nintendo was quick to change this feature.

The update 1.1.0 to Super Mario Maker 2 also changes how Nearby Play mode works, which it gives you the option to choose from courses uploaded to Course World and courses saved to Coursebot. In addition to this, you don’t always have to be connected to the internet in Nearby Play when playing a course saved to Coursebot.

In this update, they have also created an Official Makers list now, which no doubt includes only courses made by Nintendo. Other tweaks, along with some quality-of-life changes have happened, like where you can access Play Together (Play With Friends) mode from any course you’ve uploaded.

Profiles now display more information, such as the total number of First Clears etc. Plus you can now play Super Mario Maker 2 with horizontal Joy-Con controllers in every mode.

Hey, my name is Mark, I am 29, video game enthusiast! My earliest memory was playing Worms on the Amiga against my Godmother, yes the Amiga, massive box type thing, needed eighty-five thousand floppy disks to play one game, maybe a slight exaggeration, those were the days! I love RPG's, and The Legend of Zelda series. Dogs are pretty awesome.

Have your say!
