A Legend of Zelda TV series appeared not long ago on IMDb, a database for movies and TV shows. If it happens to be true, this will be exciting news for Zelda fans, since this has been rumoured for quite a long time now.
According to the show’s description, it will be “an animated anthology series based upon several of the games in Nintendo’s “The Legend of Zelda” franchise.”
Additionally, the show will be done in three different art styles: “Season 1 will be done in an art style like Netflix’s “Castlevania”. Season 2 will be done in Ralph Bakshi-esque art style. Season 3 will be done in a Studio Ghibli art style. “
Furthermore, it will follow the story of Link across the different games he’s appeared in. The page reads: “Season 1 will be based on “Ocarina Of Time” and “Majora’s Mask”. Season 2 will be based on “Link To The Past”, “Link’s Awakening” and “Link Between Worlds”. Season 3 will be based on “Wind Waker”, “Phantom Hourglass” and “Spirit Tracks”.”
But don’t get too excited yet. The only evidence we have that this is indeed real is the IMDb submission rules, that states that you need to provide proof that the title is currently in development for it to not be removed. But until we hear official news from Nintendo or Netflix, take this with a pinch of salt.
The recent years have been a positive time for video game TV adaptations, so it would make a lot of sense for Nintendo to jump into the bandwagon before it’s too late. They know perfectly that a Legend of Zelda series will attract a lot of attention to their beloved IP, which has a new game, the sequel to Breath of the Wild, which is rumoured to be releasing next year.
