The new Spider-Man will need to swing around in 4K or with a higher FPS
Insomniac has posted to Twitter to reveal that Spider-Man: Miles Morales will have a 4K/60 FPS performance mode.

Both of the next-generation consoles are aiming for higher frame rates and a 4K resolution. Not every game will achieve both; it is quite hard even with beefy PCs. Players will have to choose between ray-tracing and 4K for a lower FPS or vice versa.
The PS5 will have a robust SSD, meaning loading screens will be reduced to eliminated, depending on the optimization from the developer’s end. That does not mean that resolution and FPS are up to the standard of a high-end PC, even with all of the upgrades Sony is making with the PS5.
The main possible factor to consider is ray-tracing. The technology makes light act in a way it should in a realistic way. Just look at the Spider-Man: Miles Morales trailer (see below) to see the higher frame rate and ray-tracing in action. The intensity of the lighting and reflections could lower the FPS when players with 4K TVs want the prettiest looking New York possible.
At launch, players will be in the shoes of Miles, rather than Peter. It is a shorter standalone game, similar to Uncharted: Lost Legacy. No word yet on what the story will be, but we will get to be Miles as he experiences what it’s like to be a superhero, unlike the 2018 game where we got to be in the suit of a professional.
Recently, PlayStation gave the world a look at what the PS5 box art will look like by using the upcoming Insomniac release as the prime example.
What do you think of the Spider-Man: Miles Morales performance mode? Will you opt for prettier graphics or a higher frame rate? Let us know in the comments.
