Sony Interactive Entertainment has made it clear today via the PlayStation blog that they will not be attending the PAX East 2020 event in Boston. Due to the ever-changing status of the COVID-19 (also known as the “novel coronavirus”), the global brand will be stepping away from the booth.

“Today, Sony Interactive Entertainment made the decision to cancel its participation at PAX East in Boston this year due to increasing concerns related to COVID-19 (also known as “novel coronavirus”). We felt this was the safest option as the situation is changing daily. We are disappointed to cancel our participation in this event, but the health and safety of our global workforce is our highest concern.”

Gamers will no doubt be heartbroken about the news. But, saying that – safety comes first, and knowing Sony has nothing but their staff’s wellbeing in mind – attendees of the event should have every reason to back the decision. However, by Sony pulling out of the convention, gamers will no longer be able to get their hands on some of the upcoming releases. These titles include:

  • Cloudpunk
  • Doom Eternal
  • Dreams (#18003)
  • Final Fantasy VII Remake
