Sony announces “A look at the future of gaming”

Sony has just announced a PlayStation 5 event will be held on June 4th. It was announced on Twitter alongside a short trailer featuring a black variation of the new DualSense controller.

The event will be held at 9pm BST / 1pm PDT / 10pm CEST on June 4th via YouTube and Twitch, it’s expected the event will be a little over an hour.

Unlike the previous event that focused on the technical specifications of the PlayStation 5, this one will focus on games. Many upcoming titles will be revealed in the presentation so hopefully, we’ll get a better idea of what the PlayStation 5’s launch lineup is going to look like. So far a lot of the PlayStation launch titles have been speculative but the latest issue of Official PlayStation Magazine goes into detail on the 38 games confirmed for the PS5 with an idea of their launch windows.

In an article on PlayStation.blog Jim Ryan, President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, explains further “The games coming to PS5 represent the best in the industry from innovative studios that span the globe. Studios, both larger and smaller, those newer and those more established, all have been hard at work developing games that will showcase the potential of the hardware.”

At the start of the year we found out Sony wouldn’t be attending this year, now cancelled, E3 as it didn’t line up with the company’s strategy for 2020 and I think the event will reflect this. Ryan states that this event is just the first in a series of updates so there will be a lot more to look forward to after the event. It’s as if Sony is taking a similar approach to Nintendo’s Directs, something quick and to the point which fans have come to appreciate more than the press conferences shown at E3.

“A lack of physical events has given us an amazing opportunity to think differently and bring you on this journey with us, and hopefully, closer than ever before.”

Hey I'm Zacc, gaming was a big part of my childhood and it has shaped me into who I am today. My Dad introduced me to Ocarina of Time as a kid and almost 20 years later I introduced him to Breath of the Wild
