Shadow of the Tomb Raider director comments on Spiderman

“I’m not worried about Spiderman”

With a great year in gaming so far and more to come one of those upcoming titles on the way is Shadow of the Tomb Raider set for release this September. There has been some speculation with another hyped release on the way, Insomniac’s Spiderman.

COGconnected recently got to sit down with Eidos Montreal’s game director, Daniel Bisson and lead writer, Jill Murray. They asked questions about Spiderman and if it’s release will affect Tomb Raider’s release as well.

“This has been a great year for games,” Murray told COGconnected.

“Yea, exactly that. I’m not worried about Spider-Man,” Bisson said. “I have friends working on it, so I’m very happy for them too, and I think, you were saying it, it’s a great year. And for me, Spider-Man and Shadow of the Tomb Raider can co-exist. It’s a different experience. One’s way more about movement, the city and things, and this one is way more about exploring and finding things that make life special.”

Thoughts and Feelings

There are strong comparisons to be made from both franchises, including the games coming out. They’re both story driven games with graphics and motion capture to imagine these fan favorites under a realistic light. Though the characters are different genders they encompass similar paths to where they are today. People who have lost and gone through so much to be the strong courageous souls we love to see in action. Being a fan of both I can say that it isn’t hard to choose one over the other when finding time to play them upon their releases. Comparing one over the other doesn’t define who or what they are in the first place, going through the motions and seeing what these games have in store seems worth the wait with hype train in full swing for both titles. This fall looks like it will be an excellent with these two games alone.
