Rust Update – Around the world in 70,000 players

70,000+ players active on Rust due to the new ‘Hot Air Balloon’ update.

Released on 1st November, Rust’s latest update introduces hot air balloons, SAM sights, cargo ship updates and more. Full information on the update can be found here.

Interestingly, it seems Rust players have really taken a shine to the hot air balloons. According to Steam Charts, since they were added this week, along with SAM sights (to shoot them down)… The player count for the survival game risen to an all time high.

Yesterday, more than 70,000 people were playing at a time! As a result, Rust was the fifth most popular game by concurrent player count (on steam), beaten only by CS:GO, Dota 2, PUBG and Rainbow Six Siege.

Last time I played Rust, I was holding a spear, naked and getting chased by multiple players with guns… Now I can get chased by multiple players with guns on a hot air balloon! O the joy. To be honest, hot air balloons do sound like a fun addition. I may have to check the game out again sometime soon.
