Death Stranding has barely been released, but already we’re getting murmurs of a DLC release.
Reddit user u/okdaydreamer cites a “fairly credible source” when stating that we can expect DLC for the title to be released in the summer of 2020, coinciding with the game’s PC release. It isn’t stated whether the DLC will be free or paid, though it is implied the content will most likely be paid with the price tag unknown.
Supposedly the second half of the game was completed by a separate team, with the game potentially (possible spoilers) ending on a cliffhanger. With separate teams completing different parts of the game, there is also the suggestion that there is more to the story than what is available in the full game at launch.
Not much was revealed about potential DLC content, though apparently a “raid” mode will be added. According to the source, the name of the DLC will be September-1998, though, with not much known about the game’s story before launch, it’s unclear if this is accurate at all. Coincidentally that happens to also be the release date of one of Kojima’s earlier games Metal Gear Solid, so make of that what you will.
There is no suggestion of whether the DLC would come as part of a package deal with potential microtransactions or whether it would be a completely new addition to the story.
