Assassin’s Creed: Ragnarok (or Kingdom, to some) has been bouncing its way around the web ever since April 2019. We can thank the several leaks and sources for that one. But now, thanks to further insights into Ubisoft’s upcoming plans for 2020, it appears the Viking chapter we’ve all been talking about might just be coming our way after all.
Ubisoft has published its quarterly earnings call for Q3 2019. In the report, Ubisoft has announced that five triple-A titles will be released between 1st April 2020 and 31st March 2021. Three of these titles, however, have already been confirmed. And no – it isn’t a new Splinter Cell. Instead, you can expect Watch Dogs: Legion, Gods and Monsters, and Rainbow Six: Quarantine. The other two triple-A titles are yet to be confirmed, but with Ubisoft emphasizing the fact that they’ll be from the developers “biggest franchises”, we can only put two and two together.
Assassin’s Creed has enjoyed a clockwork routine of having a new chapter almost every year without fail. But, with the gap year in 2019 and a little space away from the Brotherhood, it seems to be the right time for the Viking instalment to be introduced to restless Creed fans. This means that we will likely see the shadow-dwelling Ragnarok sequence before Christmas falls, my friends. Oh – but that’s not all.
Resting our Ubisoft child aside for a moment, it might also be worth taking a closer look into the Far Cry platform, too. Of course, sixteen years is a long time for a franchise to tick over, but Ubisoft has always been persistent when it comes to delivering further titles into the saga. Plus, with the familiar pattern of annual launches, a sixth major release isn’t exactly out of the question for 2020/2021. Again, these are the rumours floating between millions of fans. But, put the facts together and those two unknown titles sort of just unravel with ease.
Whatever the case may be, Ubisoft will likely inform us over the next few months. We’ll be sure to keep our ears to the ground and bring you all the details the second the pin drops. Until then – keep your eyes peeled. The year is really only just beginning – and the Ubisoft storm is already brewing.
