RUMOR: Ratchet and Clank Game in Development for PS5

The 2016 retelling/reboot of Ratchet and Clank was a big success for Insomniac Games along with a not so well-received movie. CBR reports the rumor coming from ex-IGN employee and Kinda Funny co-founder, now gaming podcaster Colin Moriarty who claims that a new adventure with the Lombax and his tiny robot partner is coming to the PlayStation 5.

“We’re going to get a Ratchet & Clank in-between [Spider-Man PS4 and its sequel] on PlayStation 5,” Moriarty said on his podcast Sacred Symbols+. “I feel like that’s going to be a launch game, the Ratchet & Clank game that’s long been in development at Insomniac.”

It would make sense to have this in lined up for the launch of the PS5 this holiday season as the series was a flagship title for the second and third iteration of Sony’s console. Also, it has been almost four years since the release of the reboot, which made it seem like more was to come. Since then, Insomniac had a smash hit with Spider-Man and getting bought by Sony Interactive Entertainment. No confirmations yet, but a possible leak we reported on could mean a reveal event coming this month, which would certify what Moriarty has said.

What we do know so far is that the developers are working on a sequel to Spider-Man. Some developers split into a second team to work on another project, but we don’t know if that is the case here. We will have to wait for that PS5 reveal event, whether it comes this month or later this year.

What do you think of this rumor? Do you believe in this claim? Do you even want a new Ratchet and Clank? Let us know in the comments.
