What’s Capcom got in store for Resident Evil?
Resident Evil’s “Ambassador Program” – essentially Capcom’s own RE-based newsletter subscription – has teased some exciting news for the beloved horror franchise. An email sent to Gold members of the program has got fans excited for info on what’s next for Capcom’s iconic series. The email is in Japanese, but roughly translated it mentions an “exciting announcement” coming next month.
Rumours have been circling for some time about a Resident Evil 8 as well as a remake of Resident Evil 4. While it’s not certain yet, it’s probably safe to assume that the announcement will be regarding one of these two titles, or potentially both.
Capcom has been experiencing success with the Resident Evil series as of late, with both new entries as well as remakes of classic titles in the series proving to be fan favourites and a solid return to form for the once stagnating franchise.
Will they attempt to continue the winning streak started by the remakes of 2 and 3? Or, will they try to diminish the possibility of remake-fatigue setting by giving us a new Resi story? This remains to be seen, but it seems certain that Capcom has no intentions of putting the series to rest any time soon.
When’s the Resident Evil reveal?
As noted by a report by Bloody Disgusting, the reveal appears to be scheduled for the 10th of June – this would coincide with the week of Xbox’s Big Summer Games event. Coincidence or not, that week could prove to be a very interesting one for gamers. With the loss of E3 due to the pandemic, many companies are choosing to host their own online events, and this has caused a much wider spread of games news, so weeks like this are starting to become more commonplace.
