The collector’s edition for Resident Evil 2 Remake has just been announced by Capcom at San Diego Comic-Con 2018.
The collector’s edition will contain the deluxe edition of Resident Evil 2 Remake which includes a copy of the game wrapped in deluxe packaging, a digital soundtrack of the original Resident Evil 2, two costumes for Leon (Arklay Sheriff, Noir) , three costumes for Claire (Military, Noir, Elza Walker), and the Albert Model of the Samurai Edge weapon, which was featured in Resident Evil 5.
The main additions to the collector’s edition are a 12 inch figure of Leon, a poster of the Raccoon City Police Station, a 32-page art book, and the digital edition of the soundtrack of the game comprised of 25 songs. All this content will be contained within an RPD- themed box that is in the same appearance of the ammunition-hoarding chests found throughout previous Resident Evil titles.
The collector’s edition will be exclusive to Gamestop customers in North America and will be priced at $200. A pre-order bonus also includes the Samurai Edge weapons for both Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine.
The Resident Evil 2 Remake is poised to be an incredible successor to the original Resident Evil 2 however, nothing can replace those fear-inducing walks through the original Raccoon City Police Station. Those fixed camera angles constantly left me anxious as to what may be around the next corner.
While I’m not a huge fan of the new appearances of Leon and Claire, its not a strong enough detractor that it would ruin the game for me. As a fan of Resident Evil 7 I look forward to this remake as it will imbue more creative scares and potentially introduce a stress-inducing atmosphere that could rival the original.
Now let us know what you think. Do you think Resident Evil 2 Remake will live up to the original? Will you shell out the cash for the collector’s edition? I just might.
Resident Evil 2 Remake is set to release on January 25, 2019 on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
