Red Dead Redemption 2 footage bores Gamestop employees to sleep
The gaming community has nothing but great things to say over the hyped up release of Red Dead Redemption 2 set to come out on October 26th next month for PS4 and Xbox One. However recently there has been some negative comments circling on Reddit from Gamestop employees over the footage they’re were granted to see.
At this year’s GME Conference, Gamestop’s event designed to educate store managers as well as other staff attending on new releases was shown a twenty minute long demo of the game. The footage shown was mostly story driven with little action displayed with the exception of a bank heist shown towards the end of the presentation. The footage is currently not available to the public, simply what is described by those who attended the event.
Those who saw the video actually had mixed feelings towards it with many Gamestop employees finding it boring with some falling asleep to the video. Though to be fair Red Dead Redemption 2 was the last thing they had to watch at GME, at that point they were probably tired out from everything shown.
Here are some comments from Gamestop’s Subreddit page on situation:
“Almost put me to sleep,” one said. “Game looked great but what they chose to show for the first 20 minutes was very boring and not what you would want to show to the people who you want hyped about your game,” another Reddit user said.

Though some praise was given to the footage as some commented highly on the bank heist they witnessed in the video.
“Multiple options to customize your bank robbing approach broke up the gameplay as well. Think about the heist planning in GTA but it happens in between action scenes,” says Reddit user.
There were a lot similar questions to whether or not the controls will be like Grand Theft Auto 5 or the first Red Dead Redemption with it’s snap aim controls. Though no direct answer was given at the event, yet it seems simply the deadeye slow motion kill is the only option for now.
This reception those seem a little harsh as what the crowd at GME saw of the game was meant to help Gamestop employees stay up to date on what the game was about. Story is only one portion of the game, gameplay is a must as well. A new trailer of the game will be arriving soon which will give a better insight into the game.
