Rage 2 Might Not Be Possible On The Switch

Rage 2 Might Not Be Possible On The Switch

Bethesda is currently loving bringing games over to the Switch, we have seen this with Skyrim, Doom, Wolfenstein 2 and there newest being Doom Eternal which is set to come to Switch.

However, Rage 2 might not be getting a Switch port but they are looking into it, in an interview with Dualshockers id Software Studio Director Tim Willits stated due to the team being busy with the release on the Pc, Xbox and PS4 they haven’t looked into what it would take to bring the game to the Switch.

Dualshockers also asked Bethesda’s Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communication Pete Hines who went into more information on the issue stating this:

“We’ve talked about it, but it’s a completely different engine and tech. The nice thing about Doom, Wolf, and Doom Eternal is it all uses id Tech, Rage 2 uses Avalanche‘s engine, so it’s a different beast in terms of a seamless open world that you can play like that. We’ve talked about it some. Still uncertain whether that could ever work on the Switch.”

Bethesda couldn’t port games to other Nintendo consoles before due to technical issues or anything else when they heard about the Switch and its specs Bethesda knew there was a number of things they were working on that would suit the Switch.

Bethesda enjoys bringing games to any console they can as long as it retains “sort of the same kind of experience,”

“We want as many people to be able to play our games as possible. A lot of time and a lot of effort go into making these games. So if bringing it to another platform allows more people to play it, great. So far the reception has been good, people really like the games, so we’re gonna keep doing it.”
