Playstation has announced the news everyone’s been waiting for. A reveal event for the PS5 is on the way. Playstation has announced a venue, time and date for the unveiling of the next-gen console. The wait will soon be over, and for players all around the world, it’s been a long one.
The online reveal of Playstation’s fifth console will begin March 18, at 9 A.M. PT/ 12 P.M. ET/ 4 P.M. GMT. This announcement will be going live on the Playstation Blog, so for many, it will not want to be missed. Playstation architect Mark Cerny will provide “a deep dive into PS5’s system architecture and how it will shape the future of games.”, as noted on Twitter.
Despite all we know currently know about the PS5, there’s equally as much that we don’t know. Tomorrow’s event from PlayStation looks to rectify this and answer the burning questions. From the PS5’s specs and price to the console’s upcoming games, there’s plenty to wonder.
Meanwhile, Microsoft’s next console, the Xbox Series X serves as Playstation’s biggest competition. They are both set for a Holiday release this year, so it’ll all be heading down to the wire when they do.
Back in January, the CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Jim Ryan, has revealed far more is to come for the PS5. Sony recently revealed the PS5 Logo, as seen above. It’s clear it wasn’t the reveal everybody expected.
Regardless, Jim Ryan affirmed during an interview with Business Insider Japan, (translated by Gematsu), that the biggest changes to the next-gen console are still to come. The CEO cited improvements previously announced, from its 3D audio, haptic feedback in its controllers, as well as the solid-state drive.
There was even hope for the PS5 to include backward compatibility.
Jim Ryan explained: “There are still more unique elements for PlayStation 5 to come that separate it from previous consoles,”
He further added: “The ‘bigger differences’ have yet to be announced.”
