Nintendo Switch Lite preorders have gone live in the UK and US, with the new updated console releasing on the September 20th. A plethora of sites have listed the new console, such as Argos, Amazon, and GAME,
Nintendos new console is a cheaper handheld-only model of the already released Nintendo Switch, but do not confuse the Lite with the recently announced Switch console with extended battery life.
The Switch Lite comes with a 5.5-inch touchscreen, with no dock for tv output, as this only supports being played handheld. The Lite does not come with HD rumble or detachable Joy-cons, but it does have an improved D-pad. It is a single unit, made purely for handheld gaming.
The Lite comes readily available in three different colours, yellow, grey and turquoise, and the selling price for this new version is £199.99. If you compare it to the regular Switch, that is £80 saved, so why not spend that on two titles instead. For example, the newly released Fire Emblem: Three Houses which is a perfect game for playing handheld, or give Mario Maker 2 a try, get building those impossible courses for people to suffer online!
However, if you want to hold your horses or are unsure about the Lite, Nintendo has plans to release two limited-edition versions of the Switch Lite for £199.99. The Nintendo Switch Lite Zacian and Zamazenta Edition, these are the names of the legendary Pokemon from Pokemon Sword and Shield that launches November 8th. Nintendo says this will be available ‘while supplies last.’
For those who don’t know the Switch Lite releases on the same day as the Legend of Zelda: Links Awakening. Is this a coincidence? Do you think they have another limited-edition version planned? Or do you think they are only going to release bundles containing the Switch Lite and Links Awakening?
At this moment we do not know, so is it worth holding off? That answer solely depends on how much of a die-hard Zelda fan you are; there is still time for Nintendo to announce something.
