Overwatch teases new hero with map change
Blizzard has dropped some possible hints for the introduction of a new Overwatch hero. With BlizzCon 2018 nearing, the clue is leaning toward a potential hero drop, and it has come in the form of a recent map change.
The Route 66 map features the payload with a nuclear warhead on it. The payload itself is different now; that nuclear weapon is missing. It’s too big to go unnoticed or be meaningless. The most likely situation is that its disappearance has something to do with Hero 29.
Nothing has been confirmed at this point, so anything and everything is just speculation. After the introduction of Wrecking Ball, the last of the most-highly speculative heroes had finally been confirmed.
Rishi Alwani of Gadgets 360 makes a good point when he makes mention of prior payload changes. This isn’t the first time Blizzard has used this method. Blizzard switched-up the payload concept in the Numbani map to help build lore and promote Doomfist and Orisa. This newest payload change could follow in that mold.
As of this writing, I have not cleaned any other kernels of information, but we’ll keep you updated as new info trickles out. There might some more clues before BlizzCon starts this Friday, so we’ll have to wait to see what happens.
