More EA Games to possibly come to Nintendo Switch

EA is sceptical regarding releasing games for the Nintendo Switch. This is because the best selling games on the Switch are games that have been published and made by Nintendo themselves: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Smash Bros Ultimate, and Super Mario Odyssey being the top three. That being said; however, EA’s CFO Blake Jorgensen has made it clear that we should expect more from EA soon. He said: “We are very pleased with how well Nintendo has done with Switch … I mean, people love the platform, they enjoy it, it’s great.”.

Nintendo announced that the Switch has outsold the SNES with 52m units sold which is an achievement for a 3-year old console. In addition, there is plenty of room to grow for the Nintendo Switch, especially as Nintendo has no plans to launch a new model. It makes sense for EA to rollout releases for their more prominent and more secure titles like FIFA. However, whether or not we’ll see titles like Star Wars: Battlefront II or Apex Legends is unknown.

EA currently has five titles available on the Nintendo Switch, including three FIFA titles. This is likely to grow as EA has stated: “We are always looking and discussing with Nintendo what else we can put on the platform and as you can imagine, as the platform grows, our interest in adding content grows for that platform.”. What we can expect exactly is unclear, with some confidence we can say FIFA ’21 will get a Switch release.
