Fans of both series rejoice if you’re on PS4 and Xbox One anyhow. The Monster Hunter: World and The Witcher 3 event went live February 8th as a free title update. PC players will have to wait for the content though. Check out the video below to see the trailer and gameplay for the update.
The crossover content starts when you’re Hunter Rank 16 or higher with the mission ‘Contract: Trouble in the Ancient Forest.’ Doug Cockle returns to voice Geralt of Rivia in the English version to track down a Leshen. Playing as Geralt you’ll use his silver sword and combat magic to defeat the Leshen. Along the way you’ll engage in conversations with other characters, influencing how the overall story unfolds, something else Geralt brings.
Beating this Leshen isn’t the end of the crossover though, don’t worry. On the February 15th a new mission will be out, ‘Contract: Woodland Spirit.’ This one will require Hunter Rank 50 or higher, or it’ll be more difficult than the last. As they said in the press release it’ll be “an extremely challenging multiplayer event,” so I’d gather up some friends. It will also put you against a Leshen, a much deadlier version though. This event over lasts until March 1st though.
Completing the first mission will earn you special, Witcher-themed rewards though. Resources for crafting Geralt’s armor and weapon set, a unique skin, and a weapon for your Palico companion among them. Other rewards include new gestures, titles, a pose, and guild card background. Completing Woodland Spirit gives you resources to craft another Witcher themed weapon and armor set, one that belongs to Ciri.
This all sounds very exciting and I can’t wait to see how people fair against the Leshens. Comment down below to let us know how you feel about the update.
