Modern Warfare 2 Remaster Could Come This Year

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s addition to the free PlayStation Plus games for March isn’t the only exciting news for fans of the long-running FPS franchise.

The discovery of a new PEGI rating for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered, first reported by Gematsu, gives Call of Duty fans yet another remastered treat to look forward to. The original Modern Warfare remaster (released in 2016 alongside Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare) received glowing reviews for the extensive work done in modernizing the game. More than anything, fans loved that the feel of the original wasn’t lost in the updated version, which bodes well for a potential remaster of the beloved Modern Warfare 2.

For now, it appears as if it’s only MW2’s single-player that’s getting a remaster. Still, the game’s over the top campaign is generally considered to be one of the greatest FPS story modes ever.

Unfortunately, Activision has been mum on the subject of a MW2 remaster. It seems possible that it could launch alongside 2019’s new Call of Duty entry, which, rumors suggest, could be Modern Warfare 4.

Of course, this is all just speculation at this point. While we wait for some fresh Call of Duty news, let us know if you’re excited about the potential for a MW2 remaster! Are you excited to pick up the original Modern Warfare remastered when it becomes free for PS Plus subscribers on March 8?
