“Disc Free Gaming” Seems to be what Microsoft have in mind for the future… Images and more details have been leaked.
Recently, German website WinFuture has obtained images and details of the disc-less console soon to be revealed by Microsoft themselves.
The Xbox One S All Digital completely scraps discs in favor of game downloads. With no blu-ray drive you’d think this would be a good option for consumers that wish to spend less on the hardware. But, the console is expected to launch priced at around £199.99 (or $260.00) which could still be considered too much… Especially given the fact all content will have to be bought from the Microsoft store. In terms of a release date, we expect the console to be released on 7th May (In Europe at least).
In terms of the hardware, the packaging seems to show that there is just a 1TB hard drive built in. This is without a doubt insufficient for a digital only console due to a lot of games being released at around 100GB (this will without a doubt also rise as time goes on).
Interestingly, the box also states that the console will support 4K Ultra HD videos which is great but will also eat some of that storage space should you be in to downloading movies. To get you started, the console comes pre-loaded with Forza Horizon 3, Minecraft and Sea of Thieves and, from what we know at the moment, it seems as though the Xbox One S All Digital will only be available in white, will come complete with a single controller, and it could be unveiled by Microsoft on April 16.
What do you think of the Xbox One S All Digital? Personally I don’t think it will go down too well but let us know your thoughts in the comments section below!
