We’ve Now Got A Good Look At The New Mafia Remake
Developers Hangar 13 has released some gameplay from there next upcoming game: a complete remake of the 2002 game Mafia. Moreover, this wasn’t just a brief glimpse of how the plays. Throughout this footage, we got to see large chunks of a mission from Mafia: Definitive Edition. And, for the most part, it looks pretty good.
However, this game isn’t just a simple remaster, as it features new scenes exclusively for this release. Mafia: Definitive Edition will flesh out some of the characters from the original to give greater depth to Tommy Angelo’s story. The combined team of Hangar 13 and 2k Czech (developers of the original) have also reworked the gameplay mechanics of the original. Driving is much improved, as well as adding some new shooting mechanics. President Haden Blackman said that they aimed to add the cover system from Mafia 3 for a better combat experience for players.
The footage we saw gave us a good look at all of these things in action. We saw the mission “A Trip to the Country”, a mission from the original. It features strong story elements, with some great cinematic cutscenes. And, we got a good look at both the gun combat and driving in action. Personally, I think the improvements are obvious; Mafia: Definitive Edition may play better than any other entry in the series.
For those who want to watch it, take a look at the gameplay reveal below. It gives you the best look yet at the game that’s coming in September.
