Modern Warfare has become the highest-selling Call of Duty game on this console generation, which is mostly due to the back to basics approach that Infinity Ward incorporated. The game has boots on the ground multiplayer, a story-based campaign and a fun spec ops bonus mode but a leak on Reset-Era shows the possibility of a new Battle Royale mode; a 200 player one to be precise.
The post goes over the potential names of areas on the map, one being ‘TV Station’ this makes me think of Broadcast from Call of Duty 4. Could the map be built up from locations from previous Modern Warfare games? Seems likely since that’s what Treyarch in their battle royale ‘Blackout’. The biggest thing that was taken out of this leak was the 200 player lobby size. Battle royale games like Fortnite and PUBG traditionally have 100 players in a lobby, so this is surprising. More players would probably mean a bigger map to fit all of these players, or maybe they’re going for a faster version.
The leak also gave options for a private match which could be interesting for custom party games. You could maybe do a 1v1 where your friend is on the other side of the map. It would be stupid, yes but entertaining. Infinity Ward does have some new features to throw out there too like missions. Missions seem to be a second objective that can be found in-game from Assassination missions to scavenger hunts. These missions might give you more XP for completion or maybe just a cool gun for the game.
What do you think about a battle royale in Modern Warfare, will it flop like Blackout or will it be the killer of Fornite? Let us know in the comments.
