Earlier this year we saw the arrival of “Kingdom Hearts VR Experience”. Being a cherished franchise, this seemed as though it would be the perfect way to revisit memory lane and go on a nostalgia trip. However, upon its release, it felt lacking and not fully fleshed out. Many of the worlds were missing, and instead of feeling like a full-fledged VR package, it was an add-on gimmick at best.
Fear not though! On July 24th in the US (and presumably the UK) part 2 of the VR experience will be available. This will be launched on the 25th for Japanese players. It has not yet been revealed how many extra areas will be available in the VR format, but a big one that we know about is Hercules’ Olympus Coliseum. Arguably one of the most important chapters of the game, you will be able to experience it head-on with your PSVR. G’night Cerberus, you’re going down!
In this update, you will find the addition of motion controls. This will allow you to truly feel as though you’re giving the Heartless a good beating with your keyblade! As Square Enix themselves put it, you will be able to “immerse yourself in the world of Kingdom Hearts like never before!”
Part 2 of the VR Experience is also free, so all that is needed is the headset! (Part 1 is gratis as well in case you were wondering). It is a mystery as to why these features were not included in the first place. But, as they say, it’s better late than never! Let’s just hope that they have added more than just the Coliseum into the mix.
