Square Enix has officially confirmed at X019 that the entire Kingdom Hearts universe will be coming to Xbox One next year. That’s something Microsoft fans have been scuffing their feet to for, I don’t know – about ten years, maybe. But that’s alright, because, at long last, both Disney fans and Xbox gamers alike will be able to enjoy the madness of the keyblade at last.
As we all know, Kingdom Hearts 3 was released on both Xbox One and PS4 earlier this year. Only, the previous remasters of the first eight chapters were bundled together as PlayStation exclusives only. That sort of confused Xbox fans a little. And going on by the lore of Kingdom Hearts; you sort of need to play every sequence just to get a clear understanding of what’s actually going on. Heck, even after that it’s sort of impossible to decipher. But now, thanks to Square Enix, Xbox fans will be invited to the struggle, too.
So, I suppose congratulations are in order, Xbox. This beautiful but mind-boggling franchise will melt both your heart and your brain at the same time. But that’s beside the point – the series is actually rather stunning, to be honest.
Despite a vague window of a 2020 release being announced, no official date has dropped yet. However, Kingdom Hearts 1.5 ReMix, Kingdom Hearts 2.5 ReMix, and Kingdom Hearts 2.8 will be released as separate titles next year – guaranteed. So, Disney superfans – prepare yourselves for the ultimate journey ahead. There will be laughter. There will be tears. And there will be a lot – a lot of nostalgia coming your way.
