With new contestants and pitchers arriving for the 21st annual Independent Games Festival, the time has come to now look for new judges to offer their wisdom and expertise.
Similar to last year, organizers are now extending their invitation and opening up a new role call for all potential applicants looking to be the judges of their signature competitions and award ceremonies. The candidates will be a variety of different people who have experience within the games industry. Those such as game developers, games journalists and even game academics are among the most highly sought after. They must have the knowledge and skill to offer sound advice and fair critique to all the hopeful contestants. Bear in mind that applicants must NOT be submitting a piece for any of the competitions that are being judged.
Not only are judge positions available, but others can also apply to be part of the Jury participation. These will be a small group of of select individuals whose groups votes will decide on honorable mentions, finalists and winner selections.
Applications will be taken in on September 6th. Not all applicants will be selected but those who are will receive an e-mail shortly after, stating when the judging process is about to begin.
For those who were a judge for last year and have rated at least one game that was in the contests, these will be given an automatic invitation and do not need to go through the application process. If there is anything about the situation that has changed, applicants can simply login and update their current information.
With the submissions flooding in since July, a fine selection of capable and exceptional judges will be surely needed. If you have what it takes, you can take a look at www.igf.com and apply from their forum page. Applications are expected to end early January.
Good luck, to all those who have what it takes.
