Gears 5 Store and customisation details

Well, much excite is happening right now! The YouTuber MC Ricky9 showed footage of the Gears 5 store and guess what The Coalition were telling the truth. All purchases on the store are direct, cosmetic purchases no RNG. Awesome.

In the video it shows that you can buy ‘Iron’ in packs of 500, 6,000 + 4,000 free, and 10,000 + 2,500 free. The 6000 Iron was a special Launch Week Offer. No info on how much each one costs so will have to wait to for that. Now let’s Look at the featured section of the store, there is 1 Daily item and 5 Weekly items.

There is a skin for the Hivebuster Lahni for 1,000 ‘Iron’ called the Islander Skin which is like a tribal design. It does look cool, but we will have to see how much the iron costs before seeing if that is worth the price. There is also a Museum Loadout pack which seems to be a weapon skin set the default loadout weapons (Lancer, Gnasher, and Snub). There is also a mark, 2 blood sprays and an expression. The items have different coloured backgrounds which I assume stands for their Rarity.

In the ‘Boost’ screen which is meant for purchasing Double XP for a certain amount of time. 1 Day is 250 ‘Iron’, 7 Days is 600 ‘Iron, and 30 days is 1,200 ‘Iron’. Which seems okay, but okay we don’t know the conversion rate for ‘Iron’ yet so we will put a pin in that.

Scrap is back?

So, on the top right corner of the screen there is the ‘Iron’ symbol with a 0 next to it. There is another symbol also with a 0 next to it. I am assuming this is a return of the scrap system from Gears of War 4. Considering there are supply drops, which are like loot boxes you can’t pay extra to get more of. Check out our previous article here for more info on supply drops.

I liked the scrap system because if you get a skin you don’t like you can scrap it and after a while of scrapping bad skins you can buy an epic one you really like. The skins they show on the video are for the Lancer GL and they are a Legendary skin called Art Deco Lancer GL and DEEBEE Lancer GL. The Art Deco skin is neat looking and costs 2400 scrap to create while the ‘Rare’ DEEBEE skins costs 100 scrap to create. So same price bracket as Gears of War 4.

What do you think about the video was there anything that you think I missed? Let us know in the comments below.
