In 2013, a new title came to the zombie/survival genre and changed the game. This was of course The Last of Us, and since then many people have wanted more. A couple of years back we were teased with a trailer for The Last of Us Part II, and again when it was shown at E3 2018. Since then however, there has not be much said about it and it’s been pretty secretive and kept under wraps. Apart from a few speculative release dates, it’s been pretty quiet and nothing official has been stated… until now.
6 Years in the Making
On September 24th we will finally be able to find out more regarding the upcoming, long-awaited sequel to The Last of Us. Naughty Dog have been sending out invitations to a standalone event where they will be discussing aspects of the game. Because of this we are now thinking that they avoided this year’s big conventions on purpose!
Currently there are no hints as to what will be discussed. An educated guess, on the other hand, would be that they will cover the playstyle, gameplay and some narrative points. One thing is for sure though, we’re definitely ready to learn more about the adventure ahead. Finding out an actual release date would be nice as well! A lot of time has passed between the first game and Part II (in-game and in reality), so there is no doubt much to be explored at the media event. One of the noteable things is that Joel is still yet to make a physical appearance. The smart money would be on him finally showing his face, but that’s if Naughty Dog decides to be nice.
Another great addition to this would be to find out a bit more concerning the PS5. With the speculated release dates surrounding Part II, the question has been raised as to whether it will be a PS4 send-off title, or a PS5 welcoming title. Either way it will be playable on the PS4, but it would be interesting to see what the PS5 can boast with its graphical capabilities! Time will tell, but Naughty Dog usually doesn’t disappoint. Check out the invitation for the media event below:
