Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered set for release on PS4 and Nintendo Switch
Square Enix revealed at this year’s Playstation Lineup Show that they’ll be remastering Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles for the PS4 and the Nintendo Switch set for release next year.
Crystal Chronicles was an exclusive on the Nintendo Gamecube back in 2004, which at the time was the first Final Fantasy title on a Nintendo console since Final Fantasy VI on the Super Nintendo. The game acts as a spinoff of the main series, tasking the player to find rare trees to produce “Myrrh” to fuel crystals in the game. Back then multiplayer was possible by linking the Game Boy Advance to the Gamecube, with the remaster that will be replaced with internet connectivity.
Square revealed a trailer on the remaster at Playstation Lineup which you can view below. This will be the second release from Square on the Nintendo Switch since Octopath Traveler which saw massive success on the platform from players. Square Enix would then go on to say that they were planning to put similar titles like Octopath on the Switch in the future. Little did we know that they would be going back to an excellent gem such as Crystal Chronicles.
