Epic Releases Fortnite ‘State of Mobile Development’
Epic Games has announced a set of new features that will be coming to Fortnite mobile in the near future. These features include a customisable HUD, controls, 60FPS and tweaks to performance and download sizes.
Players will be able to determine which HUD elements are active or disabled at any given moment, as well as being able to edit visibility for most HUD elements.
Alterations to controls include bringing back the ability to build form the quickbar buttons and building slots becoming drag and droppable. Additionally Epic state that they have begun testing various controller set ups.
60 FPS functionality will unlocked on a select number of high end devices, with validation being done on these devices to ensure they avoid overheating despite the increased performance over multiple games.
Improvements are being made with Android 7 and other older operating systems, as well as optimisation efforts to reduce the amount of memory the game requires. Additionally work is being done on reducing the size of updates, with recent updates supposed to result in smaller patches.
