The hands of the Baldur’s Gate series is in the well-earned hands of Larian Studios, the developers behind the brilliant Divinity series. If they’ve managed to work their magic and put Divinity: Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition on the Nintendo Switch, could we potentially see the third Baldur’s Gate join it?
According to the CEO of Larian Studios Swen Vincke, not all hope is lost seeing Baldur’s Gate 3 on Nintendo Switch. On a YouTube channel Nintendo Voice Chat he mentions the possibility, “I honestly don’t know. I don’t know what the next Switches are gonna look like. On this particular Switch, that might be a bit problematic. There are quite a lot of upgrades that have been done on Baldur’s Gate 3, so I think it would be very, very hard. But then again, never say never.”
At this present time, it seems doubtful with the current power of the Nintendo Switch, but Nintendo still has time to develop and bring out a more powerful version of the Switch. Divinity: Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition was released on PC back in 2016, and has only recently just launched for the Switch, due to games taking longer to release on the console. Plus, we have no news on when Baldur’s Gate 3 is releasing, no doubt it’ll be in 2020.
Vincke did state that, “You never know. Maybe we’ll figure out some magic trick and it’ll work. I just hope personally as a fan, the next Switch will have triple the power and triple the battery life. It’s an amazing device. I just hope it has a very long life with lots of upgrades that we can keep on playing all the games we’re playing on other consoles when we’re on the go.”
