Diablo on Switch won’t completely use Online mode
As we know, most titles on the Nintendo Switch require the use of their paid Online service. Though Diablo 3 Eternal Collection will need it for their online multiplayer mode, yet not for everything.
In fact, their Seasons mode is separate from their multiplayer mode as far as servers are the concern. Recently, Blizzard themselves confirmed the news as there was much confusion on the subject.
“I see there’s some confusion about the necessity of the Nintendo Switch Online service in relations to the upcoming Diablo 3: Eternal Collection. To clarify, access to playing Seasons does not require a Nintendo Switch Online subscription. However, access to online multiplayer does. This is identical to the way gameplay features function for the Xbox One and PS4 versions of Diablo 3 as well. Hope this makes the situation more clear!”
Honestly, this has to be some relief to players. Yet, the Switch Online service isn’t perfect but 20 dollars a year isn’t bad.
