Cyberpunk 2077 is the new, ambitious project from CD Projekt Red, the creators of the Witcher series. The game has no shortage of interest and the sci-fi RPG has gained a lot of traction since its initial reveal. To make the wait even longer, it seems an investor stoked the fire by predicting a 2019 release date.
An investor for the game has shared his belief in a Q4 2019 release for Cyberpunk 2077. This doesn’t set anything in stone, by any means, but it’s coming from a stakeholder who’s somewhat familiar and comfortable with the developing process. A Polish investor stated his 2019 hopes in a now-translated interview about the game’s development and his thoughts on it. Reddit user dr4kun translated the original interview and you can read it here.
Of course, fans should take this news with a grain of salt. There isn’t anything to back up the investor’s claims other than his own gut feeling. While you have to take rumors or predictions like this at face value, fans will likely be encouraged that someone involved with the game thinks Cyberpunk 2077 is coming in 2019.
We’ll continue to update this story if any new information trickles down, but until then, I wouldn’t necessarily get my hopes up for this release date. More information could realistically come by E3, which I’m sure no one wants to hear. But that’ll be one of the best and most obvious ways to get some concrete news, especially since there wasn’t anything new announced at The Game Awards. That also doesn’t stop CDPR from just releasing info about the game on a whim.
My response to this news is to keep holding tight; I’m not foreseeing Cyberpunk 2077 coming in 2019. But I’m definitely keeping my fingers crossed, hoping I’m wrong.
