The Call of Duty franchise is back at it again with a massive influx of 6 million players on the first day of release with its new title, Call of Duty: Warzone.

The official Call of Duty Twitter account announced this Wednesday night.

What a day! 24 hours in and over 6 million of you have dropped into #Warzone. Thank you – we’re just getting started. #FreeCallofDuty

Following the ever so popular free-to-play battle royal formula, it acts as an extension to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

Blizzard already did this with Black Ops 4 called “Blackout,” however, you had to own Black Ops 4 to play the battle royal mode.

Warzone is completely free to play, you do not have to own Modern Warfare to opt-in, although owners of the full game had an early day to get in before the servers exploded.

This growingly popular formula is here to stay from the looks of it, it’s gonna be interesting to see if it can keep up with Apex Legends and Fortnite, or crash and burn like the others who tried to keep up.

What do you think of this? Excited for a new battle royal? Let us know down below!
